24 Effective Chemical Exfoliants for Oily, Combo and Dry Skin

Exfoliants are essential to any skin care routine, especially if you want to get rid of excess oil, dark spots and uneven tone.

Chemical exfoliation, with AHAs and BHAs is considered gentler than physical exfoliation, like scrubs and brushes.

But there'seems a lot of chemical exfoliants to choose from y'all. How do you know which one works? Two things.

  1. pH
  2. Concentration

For AHAs and BHAs to be effective, they need to be within a pH range of 3.0 to 4.0

When it comes to concentration, BHAs i.e. betaine salicylate at concentrations of up to 4% and salicylic acid of concentrations up to 2% are effective.

For  AHAs that you can get in beauty stores, they can be in concentrations of up to 10%. To find those higher than that, your need to check out a professional like cosmetologists and doctors.
