Hi.

Welcome to Skincerely Clare! A skincare blog for the African millennial who wants to clear acne and dark spots.

Ask #SC: How long until I see results from skincare?

Ask #SC: How long until I see results from skincare?

Glad you asked m'dear. Nairobae wasn't built in a day, and neither is 'that glo tho' skin.

Most of the skin concerns we have, like acne and uneven skin tone, are a result of weeks, months, even years of poor skincare. The results can't be reversed overnight.

Take the dark spots/PIH I had, it took a year of a consistent brightening routine to be satisfied with the results.

Sometimes, products can have an almost immediate effect, like a great cleanser. Usually tho? Patience pays. Keep calm and stick to a skincare routine with the right products.

If it's a cleanser, after rinsing, the skin should feel clean, soft and smooth, not dry, tight or squeaky clean. So you can immediately tell whether a cleanser is for you or not.

If it's an exfoliant, then you want that glow to come through. After exfoliating, expect the results anywhere from overnight to 2 weeks. The skin feels firmer, smooth and looks bright with less visible pores.

When it's my current bae, serums, you can expect to see results in 2 - 4 weeks.

A moisturizer needs to maintain the moisture barrier for soft, smooth skin. If the moisturizer doesn't hydrate well, the skin will be dry and/or dehydrated. If the moisturizer is too rich, then the skin can have clogged pores, whiteheads, blackheads.

Expect results from a moisturizer anywhere from 2- 8 weeks.

I hope that helps! Remember that everyone's skin reacts differently to a product. So this is just a guideline.
