Hydrating toners and facial mists in Kenya
The Beauty Brains call toners the equivalent of an appendix. You don't really need it, but it is nice to have one.
I'm sure many of us sighed in relief when we learned toners weren't essential steps in a routine. Because old school toners were filled with alcohol, unpleasant to use and did NOT close the pores.
That marketing gimmick is still taken as fact in some circles. Y'all, pores opening and closing is a lie from the depths of skincare hell.
Toners these days tho. My Gad, so many wonderful options. Hydrating, exfoliating, brightening...You can find lots of exfoliating options here. But I rarely talk about hydrating toners, so it's about time.
What is a hydrating toner?
A hydrating toner adds water to the skin. They are great for all skin types but especially if you have dry or dehydrated skin.
Hydrating toners have ingredients like water, aloe vera, glycerin, honey, hyaluronic acid, PHAs etc. Basically, a hydrating toner is formulated with a boatload of humectants.
Of recent, I've been spritzing a facial mist or hydrating toner after exfoliating but before serums. I love how soft the skin feels as a result.
Some great hydrating toners in Kenya
La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water Spray

Avene Thermal Spring Water Spray

Yves Rocher Velvety Toner

Toners are rarely one dimensional. Many of them multi task e.g. exfoliate and brighten, hydrate and exfoliate or hydrate, exfoliate and brighten.
You may not need a hydrating toner, but it is a great way to add moisture to a skincare routine. What are some of your favorite toners? Let me know in the comments!
