My first experience with Retin A

Back in July, I thought, ' Giiirrrrlll, you're 30 now, you better try retinol.' Retinol is great for aging well, so yeah, I'm up for that.

I did my research and on 15th July, I went to Good Life Pharmacy, for some Retin A. They were out of stock, but I browsed around because there was a 50% sale off selected items.

I wasn't into anything on sale so I hoped next door to Pharmaplus Pharmacy and found the Retin A 0.05% for KES 1200. I was so excited y'all. I couldn't wait for my PM routine.

Then I forgot about the Retin A...until August 6th when I was arranging my closet and saw it. Since we were heading into election week and I would mostly be indoors, out of the sun's way, I decided to begin using it that night.

So I've been using retinol for the past few weeks, once a week, as part of my Sunday PM routine. I thought it would be fun to share my first thoughts and experience with Retin A.

My first experience with Retin A

(Thoughts are in regular-degular style while actions are in italics.)

Okay. Cleansing done. Reddit says I need to put this on dry skin, so Imma watch Dr. Pimple Popper for 30 minutes while I wait for my skin to properly dry.

*Settles in to Dr. Pimple Popper. One hour later, power goes.*

Woi, KPLC, for shame! Well, I'm not doing retinol in a blackout.

*Continues to binge watch blackhead extractions. 15 minutes later, power is back.*

Let's do this!

So I need to use a pea-sized amount, okay. Wait, better make that even less for a start.

*Grabs tube. Squeezing, squeezing...*

Why is this tube filled with air?! Oh wait! My bad. Shoot! This is more than pea sized, I don't want my face to fall off. Where is a wipe?!

*Grab wipe and remove excess product from finger*

Okay. That was close.

*Look sadly at wasted excess product on the wipe*

Ah, that excess Retin A has been wasted. I'm low key irked but Jesus is on the throne. He will provide.

*Dab the half a pea-sized amount on forehead, cheeks, nose, chin. Gently spread Retin A on skin. Add a layer of moisturizer after the Retin A.*

Done. You know what, I'm going back to watching Dr. Pimple Popper while I wait for the products to sink in. There's no way I'm rubbing Retin A all over my pillow. My money.

*1 minute later*

OMG I feel a slight tingle on my forehead and cheek. It's working! Yaaasss. Glow, come through!

*Next morning. Touches face*

My skin definitely feels drier, a little really goes a long way, this stuff works! Thank goodness I followed instructions on the tube (for once). Maybe next time I should throw on a mask for extra hydration afterward? Hmm, I'll Google it. Can't wait for next Sunday!

And that...was my first experience with Retin A. Have you used Retin A before? What was your experience? Let me know in the comments.
